Atlantic Grocery Distributors raises over $240,000 for The Alzheimer Society Of Newfoundland & Labrador to date
We are thrilled to share this good news story from our company, Atlantic Grocery Distributors Ltd. as we wrap up our 19th Annual Herbert J. Powell Memorial Golf Tournament. Each year at this fundraising event, AGD staff members as well as vendors and customers from the food service and retail industry, get together for a round of golf and a tasty meal at the beautiful Wilds Golf Resort in Salmonier, Newfoundland.
We had a quite a bit of fun once again this year with our industry partners, including some executive Chef’s cooking up a scoff on a hole, as well as a “Hole in One” grand prize in the form of a new car up for grabs on another! Although none of our golfers walked away with that illustrious grand prize, we certainly made some great memories throughout the day, and of course, it was all in support of a very worthwhile cause. Thanks to the generosity of AGD and those in attendance, we are so proud to say that a donation of $24,318.00 was presented by CEO Dave Powell to Harold Hefferton of the Alzheimer Society – Newfoundland and Labrador.
If you can believe it, since 2002, AGD has donated over $240,800.00 to this cause! The Alzheimer society works tirelessly to raise awareness of the disease, and to also provide support to families on their journey with Alzheimer’s. This fundraiser, as well as the organization it supports, remains very close to hearts of the Powell Group of Companies as it is all in memory of our founder, the late Mr. Herbert Powell.
We are so proud of the AGD team and our CEO Dave Powell, whose generosity has had a tremendous impact on this organization over the years, which directly helps families in our province who are facing this disease.
