HOME FOR DINNER

A team of AGD volunteers took part in the Home For Dinner Program at the Ronald McDonald House NL recently and what an incredible experience it was! The Ronald McDonald house, of course, provides families with a “home away from home” while their sick or injured child receives medical attention at the Janeway Hospital in St. John’s.

The Home For Dinner program is an opportunity to help alleviate stress for families coping with a child’s illness by providing a comforting meal. Imagine a long day at the hospital with your sick child- you are exhausted, hungry and worn out by stress and worry. Think about how much you would appreciate coming home to the comfort of a home-cooked meal in the company of a special community of caring families and individuals. Through the program, groups are invited to come and prepare a meal of their choice for the families staying at the Ronald McDonald House.

The AGD team chose to have a bit of fun with their Hawaiian theme and were happy to cook up a scoff of pizza, wings, salad, tropical punch and more! The team sat with the families to enjoy the meal together that evening and even had a little dance party with the children too- who can resist the “Baby Shark” song?!

It was a deeply rewarding experience, and a day they will never forget!
